Poetry and the Poetic Human

I love to write poetry and am convinced that there is a need for poetry designed into the human person. I am fond of encouraging others with the words of Ephesians 2:10, “For you are God’s workmanship (in Greek: poema), created in Christ Jesus unto good works which he has prepared in advance for you to do.” I began the Living Poem Society with a view to stimulating others to write and share their poetry, and in doing so to become more fully human, more fully alive. A few of my poems have their own companion essays, which enable others to explore the layers of meaning, symbolism, and connection more fully. These poems are particularly fruitful for discussion of such themes as Sabbath rest, spiritual growth, womanhood, and the human person. The idea of the Poetic Human is intimately connected with all I have to say about education and creativity.
